East African Community’s (EAC) economy is growing at a very fast pace, and the building sector is affected in two ways: demand for new buildings and demand for comfort. Often a large part of energy in buildings is not used, as it should be, for improving comfort conditions, but to offset uncomfortable conditions due inappropriate architectural design, often deriving from the current imitative approach to developed countries’ architecture.
The handbook, addressed primarily to building’s designers, has the primary aim provide information for avoiding energy waste and improve comfort in buildings adapting them to local climatic conditions.
